Poor patients in need of emergency/intensive care and their families are put through great financial stress. Many end up either not providing the critical care or are in deep debt due to huge bills. HBS hospital currently has a 23 bed ICU to take care of critical patient needs, adhering to its core values of transparency, Integrity and cost containment. It is our endeavour to charge around half the pricing of other hospitals in the vicinity. The ICU also provides life-saving facilities on-site to Dialysis patients who sometimes become critical and need short critical interventions to recover.
HBS has 2 OTs. While one is used for deliveries & secondary procedures, the 2nd (commissioned in March 2019), is a Modular OT with Laminar flow. The OT is designed to minimize infections by using multiple filters and suction action from 4 corners to eliminate air inside and gets fresh filtered air (AIR HANDLING SYSTEM-AHU). This is useful in carrying out complex cardiac surgeries, orthopedic procedures, Neuro surgeries, surgical oncology and other high end surgeries which has to be done in infection free Zone. This Modular OT is equipped with High end equipment like IABP and Heart Lung Machine.

HBS Mobile Clinic
Preventive healthcare is a key approach to improve health of people and reduce healthcare burden. Higher expenditure of treatment result when problems are diagnosed late. This impacts the poor strongly as they are forced to spend their savings or fall into debt to pay for treatments.
In order to identify health issues at their inception, and enable early interventions, HBS Mobile Clinic was initiated in January 2020, in collaboration with various field NGO partners such as The Lifeline Foundation, Project Smile, Aasra, Al-Ansaar, HRS etc. The fully equipped clinic-on-wheels van goes to fixed locations across slums of Bengaluru on a monthly schedule.
The mobile clinic focuses on testing, detection and treatment for illnesses along with provision of medicines free of charge. The field NGO partners provide food & refreshments, mobilization of patients, marketing & communication about the camp, logistics support during the camp and medicines for free distribution etc. This initiative has already helped more than 1,000 patients in the first 2 months of operation of Feb-Mar 2020.
